Introduction:
Today, by the special grace of God, we will be starting a series on Personal Evangelism – John 4:5 otherwise known as the Sychar ministry. This is a ministry committed to the universal church – the truly born again army of believers across the globe – Matt 28:19-20, “whose heart God has touched” – 1 Sam 10:26 and upon whom He has laid His Holy Spirit and the burden of soul winning. – Acts 1:8. May the Holy Spirit teach us in Jesus Name. Amen.

Definition of Soul Winning
Personal Evangelism is simply an attempt on the part of a Christian to show to another person from the word of God the following:
1. His need as a lost and guilty sinner, of a Savior and of God’s salvation – Rom 3:23 & 6:23
2. That Christ the Son of God is the Savior that he needs – Acts 4:12
3. How to make Christ his own personal Savior – Proverbs 28:13; John 3:16 & 1 John 1:9.
4. What it involves to acknowledge Christ henceforth as the Lord of his life – 2 Corinthians 5:17; Gal 2:20 & 1 John 1:7.
5. That the bible answers all difficult questions and objections he may have because it is the true word of God – 2 Tim 3:16
Importance of Soul Winning
Personal Evangelism is important for the following reasons:
1. The Bible supports it both by precepts and by example. God desires it – Isaiah 43:3; Psalm 106:21 and that is why He sent His Son to the world – John 4:14. Christ Himself proved it by example and commanded it. – Matt 28:19-20; Mark 3:14; John 3:4 & 4:21. The early church practiced it – Acts 3:1-9, 12 & Acts 4:8-12. The present day church cannot exist without it too. The church in Jerusalem was shattered that it might be scattered – Acts 11:19.
2. It is the solemn responsibility of every believer – Proverbs 24:11-12 & Ezekiel 33:1-6.
3. God Himself describes the soul winner as being wise – Proverbs 11:30. The word “win” here suggests the endurance and bravery of a soldier, the patience and skillfulness of the fisherman and the suitor.
4. God placed value on souls – Matt 10:28 & Mark 8:36.
5. The reality of eternity – Matt 13:41-43; 25:30-46.
6. Time is very short – 1 Corinthians 6:1-2; Eph 5:14-16 & 2 Tim 4:2
7. God greatly honors the personal work of Evangelism – John 1:40, 43-51.
Conclusion
It is clear from the study that personal evangelism is God’s expectation from every believer. Pray and rise to the challenge from today in Jesus Name. Amen
